Downton Abbey: last season for Maggie Smith

The Daily Mail newspaper reports that Dame Maggie Smith has asked to be written out after season 3, which is currently being filmed. This will be the last season for the Countess of Grantham, although she has agreed to make an appearance in the Christmas special.

Maggie Smith claims that three seasons is enough and that she wants to go back to the stage as well as the big screen.
