My top 5 Thanksgiving episodes
Well, it's Thanksgiving week, and even tough we don't really celebrate it in Europe, we got used to this holiday with some pretty good episodes of our favorite shows. Here are my top five Thanksgiving episodes:
#5 Gossip Girl, The Treasure of Serena Madre
#5 Gossip Girl, The Treasure of Serena Madre
Synopses (from IMDB): Blair bid to find out what her Mother is hiding backfires. Vanessa gets into a fight with her mom and ends up at the Humphreys. Rufus is hurt when he discovers Lily has been lying to him. Chuck divulges some news that could ruin a friend to Nate. Jenny finds tries to get even with Eric after learning the truth
My verdict: The scene where they eat in Lilly's house is true Gossip Girl style. Applause to the Watcha Say by Jason Derulo being chosen for this moment.
Favorite quote:
Gossip Girl: Uh oh. Looks like someone's small Thanksgiving might just have a big problem. May the Lord make us truly thankful for what we are about to receive.

#4 How I Met Yout Mother, Slapsgiving
Synopses (from IMDB): Marshall warns Barney that the third slap in their "slap bet" will be coming on Thanksgiving night. Meanwhile, Ted and Robin sleep together on the night before Thanksgiving.
My verdict: We got to see Robin and Ted with their private jokes, one more slap, and a very special musical moment performed by Marshall.

Favorite quote:
Barney: Did you just say Canadian Thanksgiving was, and I'm quoting, the "real Thanksgiving"? What do Canadians even have to celebrate "aboot"?
Robin: Canadian Thanksgiving celebrates explorer Martin Frobisher's valiant yet ultimately unsuccessful attempt to find the northwest passage.
Barney: Why are you guys even a country?

Barney: Why are you guys even a country?
#3 Friends, the One With the Rumor
Synopses (from IMDB): Will, an old friend of Ross' is in town and Monica invited him for Thanksgiving dinner. Will used to be really fat in high school and he really hates Rachel because she was horrible to him. Will shows his hatred and tells Rachel they had the "I hate Rachel Greene Club" in high school. The members of the club: Will and Ross!
My verdict: What an amazing moment, to see Monica open the door to none other than Brad Pitt. The hermaphrodite cheerleader from Long Island, the I Hate Rachel Green Club, the fact that Will was as fat as Monica: a remarkable episode.
Favorite quote:
Phoebe: Will, just take off your shirt and tell us.
#2 Friends, The One With Rachel's Other Sister
Synopses (from IMDB): Rachel's middle sister shows up on Thanksgiving Day
My verdict: The scenes with Amy and Rachel are hilarious. Their "fight", Monica and the plates, the whole "who has to die for me to raise Emma?".
Favorite quote (I have 2, actually)
Amy: You know what would be great? If you guys died!
Ross: Thank you, Amy!
Amy: Could I take this call upstairs?
Ross: Sure... but we don't live there.
Amy:[to Rachel]: I thought he was a doctor.
Rachel: He has a Phd.
Amy: Ewww...

#1 Buffy, Pangs
Synopses (from IMDB): On Thanksgiving, Buffy encounters the spirit of a Native American warrior whose people were wiped out by settlers.
My verdict: Every episode with even a glance of David Boreanaz is good enough for me. And this episode was just so entertaining: Anya's sense of humor, Spike imprisoned by the Scooby Gang, and off course, and I am repeating myself, Angel lurking in the shadows to protect Buffy (it was a great intro for I Will Remember you, which I will leave to another post).
Favorite quote:
Angel: I'm not evil again. Why does everyone think that?
Willow: Angel's here to protect Buffy.
Angel: I haven't been evil for a long time!
Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.: Where are they now?

We first met them in 1994, and they have been part of our lives ever since. David Crane, Marta Kauffman and Kevin Bright brought together six people that fitted perfectly the role of "our" friend.
They made us laugh and cry in no more than 22 minutes. They were our best company, now and then. We all miss them, and despite seeing them quite often in other roles, they will always be the amazing FRIENDS:

Jennifer Aniston
Rachel Green started out as a spoiled rich girl, but we grew to love her as the waitress pursuing her dream to work in fashion. She was Monica's best friend, and the on and off relationship with Ross made us root for the couple for almost ten years, especially after the adorable Emma. Since the end of the series, we have seen Jen in some comedies, like Rumor Has It, The Break-Up and Horrible Bosses. She was also a guest star on Courtney Cox's Dirt and Cougar Town.

David Schwimmer
Ross Geller is our favorite paleontologist. He was as geeky as lovable, not the mention that we were always sympathetic with the downfalls of his love life. He was hilarious in a remarkable way. For the love of god, they were on a break. And Ross as a musician: it's safe to say that bagpipes and keyboards were never more entertaining.
David Schwimmer has been conquering the little ones as Melman (Madagascar). He was also a director of the 13th episode of Joey.

Courteney Cox
Monica Gellar was a unique character, and the one I related to the most. Her sense of perfection made each scene special. And just think of the wedding, "We can't find Chandler...'s vest", "Don't scare me like that. For a second I was life: Oh, my God, the worst has happened". She wanted to be the perfect wife, the perfect chef, the super aunt... and she sure nailed it. Off course that if you told her that, she would simply say "I KNOW!"
We have seen Courteney as Jules in Cougar Town, and following the FRIENDS tradition, she guest stared in Lisa's Web Therapy series. She is also quite known in the Scream movies.

Matthew Perry
Chandler Bing, or Chandler Muriel Bing, didn't have it easy for a long time. However, is facial expressions and sarcasm conquered the audience like no other. We loved Janice (OH MY GOD), but we were all happy when he found love in his best friend. "Could I be any more" proud of him? "They don't know that we know that they know": simply unforgettable.
Mr. Shunshine didn't please the critics, and we also think he could do better. Let's hope Matt overcomes his personal problems and returns to the screen soon.

Lisa Kudrow
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat, what are they feeding you? Is there any terrible singer that we appreciated more than Phoebe Buffay, or Regina Phalange, or Princess Consuela Bananahammock. From cleansing auras to reincarnation, Phoebe was the most credulous of the gang. She was also one of the kindest: she was the surrogate of her brother's triplets. She didn't have it easy as a child, which is why we were so glad that she got to have a fairytale wedding with Mike.
Nowadays, we see her as Fiona in Web Therapy. She also guest stared in Cougar Town. Recently, we also saw her in Easy A.

Matt LeBlanc
"How you doing?" Joseph Francis Tribbiani, or just Joey, was passionate about food and women. He was also a wannabe actor, eventually landing a big role in Days of Our Lives, as Dr. Drake Ramoray. He was so dumb that every situation made us laugh out loud, but incredibly sweet at the same time: the time when he was in love in Rachel was just heartbreakingly beautiful.
We have seen Matt as Joey, in his own sitcom, as as himself, in Episodes.

TV Shows intros
Nowadays, unfortunately, TV shows no longer have intros (or at least good intros). While watching the bloopers of season 6 of How I Met Your Mother, I came across one of the best special intros ever. These are some of my favorite show intros/openings/credits (whatever you wish to call it) to this date:
1. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
Ok, so my favorite intro is actually from season 2, but YouTube was not collaborating. Thank you Nef Herder for one of the most awesome instrumental themes ever. There is also a special intro for one of the best episodes of the show, Once More With Feeling.
2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S
How great is it that the cast actually took some time to dance to I'll be there for you. Not only did they change the image sequences at least two times a season, they presented the fans with two very special editions.
The One Where They Are All Arquettes
3. Angel
Again, instrumental openings, this time by Darling Violleta, always had so much more to the show. And here, the credits really capture the essence of each character.
And now some memorable intros (for both good and bad reasons):

My top 5 Halloween episodes
#5 How I Met Your Mother, The Slutty Pumpkin
Synopses (from IMDB): On Halloween, Robin and her new boyfriend Mike meet for a double date with Lily and Marshall, who are eager to win the costume contest. Barney wants to take Ted with him to a Victoria Secret's Party, but he heads for a party on the roof of his apartment house, where he a few years ago met the "slutty pumpkin".
My verdict: Looking back, we can realize that from the very beginning, the fans of How I Met Your Mother are doomed to stay hooked up in the series and be surprised throughout the years.
Favorite quote:
Barney: [at the lame roof party] I can't believe you talked me into this.
Ted: I didn't, you followed me up here.

Synopses (from IMDB): Stefan and Damon decide on a new plan to deal with Katherine at the Lockwood's masquerade ball. Katherine calls on an old friend, Lucy, to attend the ball with her.
My verdict: Well, any episode with Katherine is just amazing, and this episode really got us hooked from beginning to end.
Favorite quote:
Katherine: The three of us together, just like old times. The brother who loved me too much and the one that didn't love me enough.
Damon: And the evil slut vampire who only loved herself.

#3 Charmed, All Halliwell's Eve
Synopses (from IMDB): In Halloween, while two Grimlocks attack Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Darryl and Leo at the Halliwell sisters' home, the sisters are sucked into a time portal created by The Powers That Be to Virginia in 1670.
My verdict: I just loved the way the creators portrayed the origin of Halloween. And Phoebe and the broom, enough said.
Favorite quote:
Prue: By the looks of the clothes, I'd say we were in the early 1600s.
Phoebe: Where the life expectancy of a witch is, oh, 15 minutes.

#2 Friends, The One With the Halloween Party
Synopses (from IMDB): Monica and Chandler are having a costume party for Halloween. Phoebe bumps into Ursula who is getting married in a week and invites her in return for Ursula's invitation for the wedding.
My verdict: I can't really find a Friends episode that I don't like. What else can I say? It's Friends. It's Halloween.
Favorite quote:
Phoebe: Ah so we meet again oh Cat Woman
Monica: So we do oh Super Girl.
Phoebe: [laughs] It's me, Phoebe.

#1 Buffy, Halloween
Synopses (from IMDB): On Halloween, Buffy and her friends patronize an unusual costume shop where customers turn into whatever costume they are wearing.
My verdict: As a huge Buffy fan, I can say that this episode had everything. Buffy as a noble woman and Xander as a soldier are simply hilarious. And we got to see a whole new side of Giles.
Favorite quote:
Larry: You and Buffy, you're just friends, right?
Xander: I like to think of it less as a friendship and more as a solid foundation for future bliss.
